The first time that I visited Washington, I did not rent a car. I thought that I would be able to get around just fine using a combination of buses and taxis. While I was able to get around, it didn’t go as smoothly as I had expected. Anytime that I decided to use the bus, I ended up waiting around for a minimum of twenty minutes (it wasn’t uncommon to wait for up to forty-five minutes). And after a few days of using taxis on a regular basis, I quickly realized that it doesn’t take long for cab fare to start adding up.

When I was getting ready to go to Washington for a second time, I knew that getting a rental car was a must.
