Is it Better to Rent a Car in Washington DC?

Filed under: Car Rental Washington DC - 23 Nov 2009  | Spread the word !

While you are traveling the countryside, have you ever thought that it might be better to rent a car instead of using your own car? There is some logic behind this because would you want to void the warranty because you have too many miles on your car? What if your car breaks down and you don’t have the money for the part? You are stuck on the side of the road with no money and you are far away from your home so you really can’t call anyone to come and pick you up. With all of that being said, what do you do?

If you are renting a car then you can put your mind at easy because you don’t have to worry about if the car breaks down. If the car happens to break down along the side of the road and you have no other option to get anywhere, the rental car company will send out a person and a tow truck to bring you a new car and to get the broken one towed to a shop to be fixed. This takes care of two major worries.

The other one is voiding the warranty on your car. Too many miles can cancel out a warranty on a new car because the dealership only allows you so many miles before the warranty is no good. You don’t want to void the warranty on your car otherwise you will have to pay for your own parts.

Visit Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington

The event peculiar to Washington is the Cherry Blossom Festival. The festival celebrates the generous gift of 3,000 cherry trees to Washington from Tokyo in 1912. When in 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor the people of Washington cut down hundreds of the trees and made firewood out of them. In forty years’ time after the war’s end the Japanese presented a gift of 3,800 cherry trees as a token of friendship.

In 1994 the Festival was prolonged to two weeks so that there would be enough time to hold all the activities that take place in the period of the trees blooming. Today the festival is organized by the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., the company comprising members of business, civic and governmental organizations. Every year Washington welcomes over 700,000 who come to see the cherry trees in full blossom that proclaim the beginning of spring.

During two weeks you have a chance to attend an opening ceremony and participate in a number of different activities and cultural events that take place after it. You can take cherry blossoms classes or to go for a bike tour of the Tidal Basin.

There are also numerous art exhibits, performances, fashion shows in kimono, dance and singing, rugby tournament and a lot more. When the last Saturday of the festival comes you can view the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Parade and the Sakura Matsuri, Japanese Street Festival.

It is a wonderful opportunity for family holidays. You will have a great time.
